Opening-day action wrapped up a few hours ago at the Chicago Shootout. Here’s a brief look at the three Team Southern Indiana squads in attendance:
Team Southern Indiana 2010 Red
TSI 2010 Red got back got on track tonight in pool play action, beating the Central Michigan All-Stars 62-48 and Illinois Old School 73-30.
Brownstown’s Taylor Wischmeier turned in a big night for TSI, totaling 21 points in the first game and 19 in the second. Bryant Conder, of Lanesville, added 12 versus the Central Michigan team. Jeffersonville’s A.J. Adams chipped in 13 against Old School.
Team Southern Indiana 2011
TSI 2011 hammered the Illinois Magic 69-50 in their opening game. The Jeffersonville duo of Darryl Baker and Jordan Ellis each scored 14. Corey Washburn, of Bullitt East, Ky., the team’s lone out of area player, added 12, and Bedford North Lawrence’s Braden Knight 9.
In their second contest, TSI 2011 fell to Spiece Team Indy 72-69. Ellis again led the way with 12 points, and his twin brother, Jonathan, added 10. Knight also totaled 12 in the game.
Team Southern Indiana 2012
TSI 2012 cruised into gold bracket play with a 43-30 win over the Central Michigan All-Stars Red and a 50-23 bruising of IBA Select.
Versus Central Michigan, Scottsburg’s Max Clemons and Providence’s A.J. Schmidt each racked up 15 points. Clemons netted 16 against IBA, Schmidt added 11 and Madison’s Seth Pennington 9.
Tournament action begins early this morning, with both 2010 Red and 2012 participating in the gold brackets, and the 2011 squad vying in the silver bracket.
