Bloomington South, the reigning Class 4-A state champion, has added a transfer from Charleston, Ill., Hoosier Hills Hoops confirmed today.
T.J. Bell, a 6-foot-8 wing forward, will join Indiana University recruit Matt Carlino, of Arizona, next season as new faces on the Panther roster.
The Illinois Prep Bulls-eye, a Illinois-based scouting service, offered lots of praise for Bell in this report:
Charleston’s T.J. Bell is hands down the #1 player in Illinois from the Class of 2012. Playing for the Mean Streets 15-under squad, Bell was spectacular when we watched his team’s tournament contest vs. the Wisconsin Swing. Bell has outstanding wing skills, as he has the ability to put the ball on the floor and consistently knock down shots all the way to 3-point land. He is also highly athletic, has great hands and is an outstanding finisher. We also like the fact that he plays with intensity and also gets after it at the defensive end. It is no wonder that Bell has already drawn recruiting attention from the likes of both Indiana and Illinois with others certain to follow.
Bell’s mother, Quacy Timmons, is a former player and assistant coach for IU’s girls program.
