The middle school portion of the Indiana District AAU Boys’ State Tournament is being held this weekend at Indianapolis North Central, and Team Southern Indiana has two entries competing in the 14 and under division: 2014 Red and 2014 Yellow.
TSI 2014 Red fell 62-52 to Spiece Indy Ice 2 in their opening game of pool play. Borden’s Garrett Vick scored 11 points, and Parkview’s Cameron Mink and Highland Hills’ Andrew Rogers each added nine.
In their second game of pool play, MBA Select shellacked 2014 Red 54-33. Salem’s Tanner Wroblewski netted 11 points in the loss, and Hazelwood’s Blaine Weddington chipped in 10.
2014 Red was eliminated in the first-round of tournament play 65-60 to Steel City Metro. Wroblewski again led the team in defeat with 14 points, and Lanesville’s Jack Feree tossed in 11.
TSI 2014 Yellow was defeated in both of their pool play contests. The Indy Hoyas beat 2014 Yellow 68-59 in the team’s opener. Henryville’s Devin Richey led the team in defeat with 14 points, Scribner’s Ravon Wright contributed 12 and Crothersville’s Gene Hodge 11.
2014 Yellow couldn’t hold on to a nine point second-half advantage, falling 52-48 to Steel City Metro. Wright poured in 23 points and Richey added 11 in the loss.
Yellow was ousted from the event in the first round of the single-elimination tournament 68-66 by Indiana Select Baylor. Richey racked up 24 points, and Hodge scored 18.
