Here is a collection of highlights and other tidbits from Sunday at the Blue Chip Memorial Day Hoopfest at the University of Louisville:
- TSI 2014 Red crushed the Hoop Dreams 72-22 in pool play. Silver Creek’s Brooks Howell tossed in 24 points, and Borden’s Josh Vollstedt chipped in 11.
- TSI 2012 White lost 68-64 to Louisville Prospects in pool play. Silver Creek’s Zach Ricketts totaled 15 points and Rock Creek’s De’Jon Garner added 14.
- A team effort led TSI 2012 Red to a commanding win over the Louisville-based Derek Smith All-Stars, 59-38.
- TSI 2013 Red got past Southwest Illinois Jets Orange 71-58. Louisville St. Xavier’s Brock Kiesler led the team with 16 points.
- Team DWC edged TSI 2013 White 74-68 in pool play. New Albany’s Jalen McCoy totaled 13 points and Brownstown’s Skyler Thompson.
- Switzerland County’s Braden Burk netted 16 points, and TSI 2014 Yellow squeaked past the Louisville Colts 47-42 in pool play.
- The Nashville Stars Select beat TSI 2011 White 62-51 in their final game of pool play.
- The T and A Sharks lost at the buzzer 48-47 to TSI 2014 White. Corydon’s Tommy Wiseman netted 17 in the loss.
- TSI 2011 Red shellacked Courts Elite 81-45 to close out pool play. New Albany’s Chris Whitehead (15) and Morgan Tolliver (14) led TSI; Jeffersonville’s V.J. Billups chipped in 11.
- TSI 2012 Red and 2012 White met last week at Hoops’ Crossover Classic, a game that ended in overtime with a last-second three-point shot that lifted 2012 Red to the win. The teams met again at Blue Chip in the first round of tournament play, with 2012 Red winning the second meeting, 68-59.
- TSI 2014 White got past the Louisville Colts 47-35 in the first round of 15 and under tournament play.
- TSI 2013 Red cruised past the Louisville Legends 87-67 in their tournament opener. Columbus East’s Ridge Harris racked up 28 points, Louisville Ballard’s Lavonne Holland added 19,Kiesler 17 and South Decatur’s Byron Balser 15.
- Courts Elite slipped past TSI 2011 White in first round of 17 and under tournament play. Crawford County’s Alex Baker scored 16 points and Charlestown’s Anthony Lloyd chipped in 14.
