Five Team Southern Indiana teams — 2011 Red, 2012 Red, 2013 Red, 2014 Red and 2014 White — are competing on the south side of Indianapolis this week at the Hoosier Shootout, and three other TSI squads — 2011 White, 2012 White and 2013 White — are playing across town at Warren Central High School, the site of the Indiana Shootout.
Here is a quick run down of day one results and highlights:
- TSI 2014 Red won their opening pool play contest, beating Elite Basketball 62-41 behind 12 points from Garrett Vick and Justin Vollstedt, both of Borden.
- TSI 2011 White edged NLB 17U 49-48. Crawford County’s Alex Baker and Louisville (Ky.) Moore’s Issac Maddox each totaled 12 for TSI.
- TSI 2012 Red got 17 points from Darryl Baker and 11 from Jordan Ellis, both of Jeffersonville, as the team got past the Wisconsin Blizzard 61-53.
- TSI 2014 White fell 61-45 to Wisconsin Shooting Stars. Corydon’s Brayden Lander finished with 13 points in defeat.
- TSI 2014 Red fell to 1-1 on the day, losing their second pool game 69-65 to Nebraska Select. Vollstedt led the team with 17, and Madison’s Landon Perry chipped in 12.
- Minnesota Glory 16U Elite edged TSI 2012 White 65-54. No individual statistics were available.
- TSI 2013 Red rallied to defeat the Southern Kings 86-75. Louisville (Ky.) Ballard’s Lavone Holland finished with a game-high 21 points.
- TSI 2011 red lost their first contest in nearly 20 games, falling 65-58 to the Georgia Hawks. New Albany’s Chris Whitehead paced the team with 18, and Bedford North Lawrence’s Braden Knight added 16.
- An Ohio-based Shining Star Sports team squeaked past TSI 2013 White 58-52. New Albany’s Cameron Smith scored 15 points; South Central’s Kyle Pease added 12.
- Spiece Indy Heat 2014 whipped TSI 2013 Red 87-55. Holland again led TSI in defeat, scoring 20 points.
- TSI 2011 Red shellacked the Illinois Bears Barrington 72-50 in their second pool contest. No individual statistics were available.
- TSI 2014 White edged the Illinois Bears 65-61 behind 20 points from Jennings County’s Brad Hunt.
- Minnesota Glory got past TSI 2011 White 68-48. No individual scoring details were made available.
