Silver Creek knocked off Columbus North, Indianapolis Pike, Louisville (Ky.) Eastern and New Castle on Saturday to win the second session of the 2011 Hinkle Shootout Team Camp, Dragon coach Brandon Hoffman said.
The one-day shootout for high school teams consisted of bracket play, and Silver Creek was one of just two non-Class 4-A teams competing in the event, which was hosted at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse by the Butler men’s basketball program.
“It was great to see our players play so well, especially against the level of competition we went against,” said Hoffman, whose team also went 4-0 last weekend at the Hanover Shootout, beating Bedford North Lawrence, Edinburgh, Evansville Reitz and Newport (Ky.). “Our backcourt was playing exceptionally well, and (our guards) kind of raised the bar for everyone else.”
“We were glad to up up there and accomplish what we did,” he said. “But our goal is to get to (the) Washington (Regional). That’s what we’ve got our eyes on.”
