Class 4-A No. 3 Fort Wayne South outscored Mishawaka 23-9 in the first quarter and 21-7 in the third to advance 73-50 at the Subway/Columbus North Invitational.
IPFW recruit Ariana Simmons racked up a game-high 29 points to lead South, who will square off with Norwell in Saturday’s semifinals at 11:45 a.m. DeJoyah Johnson chipped in 13 points and Lakyn Gulley 12 for the winners, now 8-1.
Mishawaka used a 21-6 second-quarter edge to rally for a 30-29 halftime lead. The Cavemen, which will meet Notre Dame Academy (Ky.) in a fifth-place bracket semifinal on Saturday at 10 a.m., were led by Taylor Parmley‘s 21 points.
