VINCENNES — John A. Logan defeated East Mississippi 80-76 on Saturday at the McDonald’s Classic in Vincennes thanks to a pair of local stars.

Sean East scored 34 points and Cobie Barnes added 25 for 59 of the Vols’ 83 points as Logan won its fourth consecutive game to start the season. No other Logan player scored more than seven in the victory.

East, a former New Albany standout, went 10-for-16, and Barnes, a former rival of East’s at Floyd Central, was 10-for-17. East also went 11-for-15 from the free throw line and 3-for-6 from behind the 3-point arc and had three assists and three steals. Barnes had a game-high four steals.

East Mississippi had five players in double figures.

Logan will try to make it five in a row Wednesday when they travel to Park Hill, Mo., to face Mineral Area College (2-2). The Vols defeated Mineral 80-65 on Nov. 5 at the Three Rivers Classic in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
