Dragons still 12th in latest girls’ coaches poll

November 29, 2021

By GREG MENGELT

There was a lot of movement in this week’s Indiana Basketball Coaches Association single-class poll, but it didn’t affect Silver Creek.

After wins over Mid-Southern Conference rivals Corydon Central (8-1), which entered the game 7-0, and North Harrison (5-3), the Dragons stayed at No. 12 in the poll. Salem, which had been in the poll since the beginning of the season, fell out of the top 20 but did receive votes. The Lions dropped a 56-50 decision to reigning 4A semistate champion Brownsburg (4-5).

Bedford North Lawrence (6-1) moved up to No. 4 this week after beating previous No. 4 North Central. The Stars were one of four teams to garner first-place votes. No. 1 Crown Point (6-1) got 12, No. 2 Noblesville (7-0) got 6 and No. 3 South Bend Washington (7-1) and the Stars each got one top vote.

Also out of the Hoosier Hills Conference, Columbus East (7-1) is ranked 13th and Jennings County (7-0) received votes.
