Clarksville’s Dakota Capps had a strong first week of his senior year.
Capps averaged 27 points to earn the Hoosier Hills Hoops Player of the Week award as the Generals went 1-1 last week.
First, Capps opened the season with 22 points, helping the Generals hang tough in a 48-45 loss to New Albany. On Saturday, Capps went for a career-high 32 points in Clarksville’s 67-52 win over Christian Academy.
Caps scored 17 of his 32 points in the fourth quarter of the win.
“Dakota, he was just Dakota,” first-year Clarksville coach Kyle Hankins told News and Tribune sports editor Josh Cook. “He’s a special player. He was getting in the middle and finding guys. But then when we needed him to take over, he took the game over.”
Capps averaged 18 points and nearly 5 rebounds and 5 assists as a junior last year.
Capps and the Generals are off until Saturday when they host Crawford County. The Wolfpack are 0-2 after losses to Forest Park and South Central.
