The Dragons began their week to beatin Scottsburg 72-50 to run their state-longest winning streak to 21 games. The last team to beat them — Bedford North Lawrence — beat them again, 49-42 on Thursday. Silver Creek (13-1), which had been No. 9 the last two weeks, then beat Brownstown Central 38-35 on Saturday, its final game for 10 days.
With the win over the Dragons, BNL moved up two spots to No. 4 in the single-class poll. The Stars leapfrogged Noblesville (11-2) and South Bend Washington (13-2). Noblesville lost at Westfield and moved down a spot. The Stars surpassed Washington despite the Panthers going went 2-0 last week.
Lanesville (13-1), which is currently riding a 9-game winning streak, was one of 35 teams in Indiana that received votes in the poll. The Eagles are outscoring their opponents by an average of 34 points per game this season and defeated Crawford County and New Washington by a cumulative score of 124-46 last week.
Last week Columbus East (11-2) smacked crosstown-rival North (7-4) by 45 points and but also lost by 21 at Ben Davis. That dropped the Olympians three spots to No. 14. East Central (8-1) is No. 17 for the second week in a row.
Jennings County (9-3) also received votes in the poll.
