Emily Cissell scored 69 points, grabbed 19 rebounds, had 9 assists, 5 steals and 3 blocked shots to earn the Hoosier Hills Hoops Player of the Week honor as Borden went 2-1 last week.
Cissell started her week Tuesday in the Braves’ 44-39 overtime win over Southwestern on Tuesday with a 20-point, 12-rebound performance. Then, in a 52-40 loss to Shoals, the Borden junior had 17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. She finished her week with 32 points in the Braves’ 57-43 triumph at Milan. Cissell was 9 for 18 from the field, 7 of 14 from the 3-point line and made 7 of her 9 free throw attempts in the victory.
“Emily shot the ball well for us this week,” Borden coach Matt Vick said. “When she is able to get to the rim and shoot it from 3, she is tough to stop.”
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
• Grace Denis, Providence: Denis knocked down five 3-pointers and led the Pioneers with 15 points in Tuesday’s 60-40 loss to Austin. Then on Saturday, she had a team-best 11 points as Providence beat Southwestern 47-37 with a balanced attack.
• Keegan Kaiser, Floyd Central: In a pair of games last week, Kaiser had 24 points, 9 steals, 6 rebounds and 5 assists as the Highlanders’ lost 49-40 at Seymour and 44-42 at home against Salem.
