HANOVER — Former New Albany star Isaac Hibbard scored 19 points and surpassed 1,000 points for his career in Hanover’s 77-72 victory Wednesday over Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) at John Collier Arena.
Hibbard went 5 for 12 from the field and led the Panthers with 9 rebounds and 5 assists. He also had a steal and was 8 for 10 from the foul line in the victory.
Sophomore forward Matt Munoz (Indianapolis/Southport) led the Panthers with 21 points and junior forward Ty Houston (Union, Ky./Cooper) added 16. Former Christian Academy standout Noah Williams had 2 points, 2 rebounds and an assist in 22 minutes.
Hibbard’s first bucket tied the game at 6-6 then made his only 3-pointer to put the Panthers up 32-26 at the 3:21 mark of the opening half. Hanover (8-2, 4-1 HCAC) led 37-31 at the half.
Hibbard scored 14 of his 19 points after halftime. His jumper with 15:10 to go gave the Panthers a 44-39 advantage. With 7:10 remaining, Hibbard scored again to put Hanover ahead 63-54.
Williams’ bucket gave Hanover its largest lead at 69-54 and sophomore guard Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville/University) hit a jumper to make it 71-54 with 3:23 left.
Hibbard hit four free throws in the final 23 seconds to seal the victory.
Lions’ senior forward Devin Young (Crestwood, Ky./South Oldham) led all scorers with 25. Senior guard Brady Thomas (Grove City, Ohio/Bishop Ready) added 21 in the defeat. Mount St. Joseph drops to 6-6 overall and 2-3 in HCAC play.
Hibbard, Wiliams and the Panthers visit Earlham (3-7, 0-4) in another league contest Saturday at 1 p.m.
