WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Langdon Hatton and the William & Mary Tribe led 35-16 Saturday at home against James Madison, but the Dukes outscored them 45-35 in the second half and 15-11 in overtime to leave Kaplan Arena with a 95-91 conference victory.
Both teams had won their last two and the Tribe looked like they were on their way to a third straight win, but the trio of Justin Amadi, Vado Morse and Charles Faldon was too much for William & Mary.
Amandi, a freshman forward who was averaging 8.5 points coming in, finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds and three steals to lead James Madison, which has won three straight and is 11-3 overall. Morse added 22 and Falden 21 in the victory. All three played 40-plus minutes.
Hatton, a freshman from Georgetown, helped the William & Mary bench outscore the Dukes’ 47-12. The former North Harrison star had a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds and blocked two shots. Hatton was 4 for 6 from the field and 5 of 9 at the foul line. He also had seven offensive rebounds.
Teammate and fellow reserve Yuri Covington scored 29 points in 39 minutes to lead the Tribe.
The Tribe, who are now 3-13 overall and 2-1 in the Colonial, host Towson on Monday at 7 p.m. The Tigers have won three straight, including a 59-54 win at Elon on Saturday, and at 3-1, trail only UNC Wilimington (8-5, 2-0) in the CAA standings.
