BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — JT Shumate and Setric Milliner Jr. combined for 49 points as Toledo beat Bowling Green 91-78 on Saturday at the Stroh Center.
Shumate, a junior forward, went 12 for 14 from the floor, 4 for 4 from behind the 3-point arc and led the Rockets with nine boards. Milliner contributed 20 points and five rebounds.
Freshman forward Kooper Jacobi, a former Silver Creek star, went 2 for 2 at the foul line and finished with two points and two rebounds in 9 minutes.
The Rockets have now won four straight and six of their last seven. They trailed only Ohio (13-2, 4-0) in the MAC standings.
Bowling Green (8-8), which was led by senior wing Trey Diggs’ 21 points, has lost four of its last five and is now 1-4 in MAC play.
The Rockets will try to make it five in a row Tuesday when they host Ball State (7-9, 2-3) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. on ESPN3. The Cardinals are 7-9 and have lost three of their last four.
