SAN JOSE, Calif.Jake Heidbreder had arguably his best game as a freshman at Air Force in Tuesday’s 63-53 Mountain West Conference road win over San Jose State at the Provident Credit Union Event Center.

Heidbreder, a former Floyd Central star, had a poor shooting night, going 2 for 8 from the field with all eight attempts coming behind the 3-point arc. He scored eight points, but he also had career highs with eight rebounds and five assists.

Hedibreder made one of his two 3-pointers nearly 5 minutes into the contest to give the Falcons an 11-7 lead. Air Force (10-8, 3-4 MWC) led 31-28 at the half and two Heidbreder free throws pushed the advantage to 35-28 with 17:22 left in the contest.

Two minutes later, Heidbreder’s 3 made it 40-32 with 15:18 remaining. The Falcons led by as many as 11 points on four different occasions.

The balanced Falcons were led by 12 points from senior guard A.J. Walker, 11 from sophomore guard Joseph Octave and 10 off the bench from junior guard Carter Murphy.

Junior guard Omari Moore had a game-high 20 points for San Jose State (7-11, 0-6 MWC), which has now lost seven straight games. Moore also had eight rebounds and four assists.

Air Force hosts Wyoming on Friday with a local tipoff time of 6 p.m. The 15-3 Cowboys suffered their first MWC loss Tuesday, 65-62 at Boise State.
