Hatton, a freshman from North Harrison, went scoreless in 9 minutes and the Tribe shot just 38.9 percent (21 of 54) and 18.2 percent from behind the 3-point arc (18.2 percent) to fall to 4-17 overall and 3-5 in the CAA.
Hatton had a rebound in the loss.
Elon, which got 20 points from sophomore wing Michael Graham, is now 6-15 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
William & Mary was led by sophomore forward Ben Wight, who had 14 points, six rebounds and a steal.
