WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Freshman forward Langdon Hatton scored two and his William & Mary Tribe picked up a 65-61 victory over visiting Elon on Saturday at Kaplan Arena.
Hatton went 1 for 2 from the field with an assist in 14 minutes off the Tribe bench. Hatton’s bucket came on a layup with 13:26 left and gave William & Mary an early 14-4 lead. The Tribe led 33-22 at the half. The Phoenix got within two points with 13 seconds left, but William & Mary knocked down free throws to clinch its fifth win in 22 games.
The Tribe were led by 16 points from sophomore forward Ben Wight.
Elon (6-16, 3-6 CAA) has lost six of its last eight games. Sophomore guard Darius Burford led all scorers with 20 points. He also had eight assists, four rebounds and four assists.
William & Mary (5-17, 3-6) hosts Charleston (10-9, 2-5) on Thursday at 7 p.m. The Cougars have lost four of their last five games.
