Utah State senior forwards Justin Bean and Brandon Horvath — two of the Mountain West’s top players — scored 17 points apiece for Utah State (13-9, 4-5 MWC), which has won three straight games.
Heidbreder, a freshman from Floyd Central, went 2 for 5 from the field and 2 for 2 at the free throw line for six points. He also finished with two steals, two assists and a rebound.
No Falcons scored in double figures. Sophomore guard Joseph Octave’s nine points was the team’s best. Air Force (10-10, 4-6), which has lost six of its last eight games, was out-rebounded by the Utes 36-16. Bean and Horvath had nine boards each.
Air Force will try to stop its skid Saturday when Heidbreder and the Falcons host New Mexico (8-14, 1-8) at 8 p.m. The game will air on the CBS Sports Network.
