And now the Warriors are the Hoosier Hills Hoops Boys’ Team of the Week.
Scottsburg (14-8) started the final week of the regular season with perhaps their biggest win of the season with a 52-50 victory over a Jennings County (14-8) team considered a serious contender at this week’s 4A sectional. Senior Hayden Cutter’s 18 points and sophomore Jack Miller’s 15 helped lead the Warriors to the win.
Scottsburg then closed the regular season with a 79-30 victory over Mitchell (7-15) in which the Warriors led 48-16 at halftime. Cutter scored 28 in the win and sophomore Kody Clancy added 22.
The Warriors roll into Wednesday’s sectional opener against Madison (6-17) on a 5-game winning streak. With a win Wednesday, Scottsburg would face likely face 4-time defending champion Silver Creek (11-12) in the semifinal round Friday. Scottsburg and Silver Creek split a pair of tightly-contested games this season.
