The Rockets whipped Bowling Green 96-56 on Friday at Savage Arena to finish MAC play at 17-3. Toledo (25-6) will be the top seed in the upcoming MAC Tournament. Jacobi and the Rockets will face 8-seed Central Michigan (7-21) at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cleveland. The entire tournament can be seen on the ESPN Network, including ESPN Plus.
In Friday’s win, Jacobi, a freshman who helped lead Silver Creek to a pair of state championships, finished with four points and three rebounds in 10 minutes off the Rocket bench. He was 2 for 3 from the field.
Toledo, which has won five games in a row, shot 58 percent from the field (37 of 64) and made half of its 3-point attempts (12 of 24). Junior forward JT Shumate led the balanced Rockets with 22 points, six rebounds and three assists. Junior Setrick Milliner Jr. scored 19 and sophomore Ryan Rollins added 18 points, while freshman Ra’heim Moss had 15 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.
As usual, senior guard Daeqwon Plowden led the Falcons (13-18, 6-14) in scoring. He finished with 19 points. Bowling Green finished ninth in the MAC and didn’t qualify for the postseason conference tournament.
