The eight-team Team Southern Indiana Boys’ High School Spring League began Sunday afternoon at Nolan Fieldhouse in Sellersburg. The Bulldogs — comprised of Floyd Central, Madison and Providence players — are the league’s lone undefeated team after the first day of action at 2-0.
Boilermakers 57, Irish 54: New Albany’s Trevor Brown netted 22 points and Eastern Pekin’s Philip Boudreaux chipped in 14 as the Boilermakers held off a late run by the Irish. Jennings County’s Dustin Lawson paced the Irish with 24.
Bulldogs 66, Aces 55: Floyd Central’s Wade Nieoff racked up 20 points and Providence’s Ryan Dixon scored 15 to lead the Bulldogs over the Aces in the opening game for both teams. Springs Valley’s Garrett Stout led the Aces in defeat with 15.
Crusaders 66, Hoosiers 61: Silver Creek’s Caleb Sprigler totaled 20 points and the Charlestown duo of Chris Braun and Joe Wilson each added 17, and the Crusaders upended the Hoosiers. Charlestown’s Kendall Thompson poured in 23 to led the Hoosiers in the loss.
Sycamores 50, Cardinals 47: Silver Creek’s Kole Kemmer and South Ripley’s Brandon Sizemore scored 15 a piece, helping the Sycamores slip past the Cardinals in overtime. Rock Creek’s Jon Ashby netted 15 in the loss for the Cardinals.
Cardinals 80, Crusaders 74: Rock Creek’s Keaton Garner totaled 19 points and Silver Creek’s Andrew Hoke added 17 to lead the Cardinals to their first win. Sprigler and Braun scored 20 and 17, respectively, for the Crusaders.
Aces 67, Boilermakers 52: Billy Edelen and Wes Rittman, both of Clarksville, scored 20 and 17 points, and Salem’s Taylor Banks added 17 as the Aces improved to 1-1 in league play. The Boilermakers were led by Boudreaux’s 15.
Bulldogs 65, Irish 57: Dixon exploded for a league-high 30 points, and the Bulldogs pulled away from the Irish, finishing the day with a 2-0 record. Lawson led the Irish with 21.
Hoosiers 66, Sycamores 46: Thompson got 24 points as the Hoosiers shellacked the Sycamores. Jeffersonville’s Cauldon Feldhaus paced the Sycamores with 13.
