Matt Trimnell, a senior at Seymour and the No. 7 scorer in the state this past season, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at IU East, an NAIA Division II program, starting with the 2010-11 school year.
Trimnell, a 6-4 guard , averaged 24.4 points per game, 7.8 rebounds per game and 2.3 assists per game. He was seventh in the state in free throw percentage at .879. He also is Seymour’s No. 5 all-time leading scorer with 1,298 career points.
“On paper, he’s the most decorated recruit we’ve ever had,” coach Mark Hester said. “He’s going to have a lot of expectations on and off of the court, but his college career could be as good as he wants it to be in every aspect.”
Trimnell also considered NCAA Division II power Bellarmine University.
“I felt I fit in better with the players and was more accepted than anywhere I visited,” Trimnell said.
