Friday AMC notes: Baker scores 28 to lead TSI 2012 Red

adidas May ClassicFive Team Southern Indiana teams — 2011 Red, 2012 Red, 2013 Red, 2014 Red and 2014 White — and a host of other Southern Indiana teams and players have made the trip to Bloomington and surrounding communities for the 2010 adidas May Classic.

Here are some Southern Indiana highlights from Friday AMC action:

  • Darryl Baker, Southern Indiana’s top freshman, netted 17 of 23 free throws and totaled 28 points as TSI 2012 Red got past Club Elite Storm 68-61 in 16 and under division play at Cook Hall, Indiana University’s new state-of-the-art practice facility.
  • Minus three starters, TSI 2014 Red fell 56-48 to Indiana Elite Hoopmatics. Madison’s Landon Perry led the team in defeat with 18 points, and Borden’s Josh Vollstedt added 10.
  • TSI 2013 Red fell 55-51 to Spiece West in their first pool game.
  • Bloomington South sophomore T.J. Bell racked up 21 points as Indiana Meanstreets whipped JSA Express 73-26 in 16 and under pool play. Bell told the Indianapolis Star tonight that he currently holds scholarship offers from Indiana, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington and Washington State.
  • TSI 2011 Red advanced in 17 and under pool play with a forfeit win over the Southern Indiana Aces. The team will face Evansville Basketball Club tomorrow at 10:30 a.m., a rematch from last weekend’s Indiana AAU State Tournament. Bedford North Lawrence’s Braden Knight, who has been out due to injuries since the end of the high school season, will make his debut tomorrow with TSI.
  • Fieldhouse Elite 2014 shellacked TSI 2014 White 61-26. Jennings County’s Brad Hunt led TSI with 14.
