Tournament play is underway at the adidas May Classic in Bloomington, and Team Southern Indiana’s 2011 Red and 2012 Red teams finished day two in a strong way.
Team Southern Indiana 2011 Red
TSI 2011 Red first avenged a loss to Spiece Evansville Basketball Club from last weekend’s AAU State Tournament in Franklin, upending the Evansville group 74-53. In his first game back, Bedford North Lawrence’s Braden Knight, who has been out since the Seymour Sectional battling injuries, totaled 18 points, and New Albany’s Chris Whitehead chipped in 16.
In gold-bracket tournament play, 2011 Red continued their winning ways, beating Spiece Gym Rats (Whitehead) 64-58 at Assembly Hall. New Albany’s Adam Stotts (pictured) racked up a game-high 21 points — including five three-pointers — and Knight added 12.
2011 Red will face Grand Rapids (Mich.) Storm in a second-round match up early Sunday morning.
Team Southern Indiana 2012 Red
Darryl Baker has headlined TSI 2012 Red’s efforts thus far at the AMC, posting 28-plus points in all three contests played.
TSI 2012 Red got past Champaign Heat 63-50 in the final pool game behind a season-high 34 from Baker. And in gold-bracket tournament play, 2012 Red rallied in the second half to defeat All-Ohio Green 66-55, with Baker totaling 28.
2012 Red will face Dorrian’s Pride Sunday morning in the tournament’s second-round.

- TSI 2013 Red finished off Team Ramey 91-59 to advance in 15U silver bracket play. Louisville (Ky.) Ballard’s Lavonne Holland netted 24 points, and Ridge Harris (Columbus East) added 18.
