Three Team Southern Indiana squads journeyed this weekend to northern Chicago for the Chicago Shootout. Single-elimination tournament play began this morning, and here’s a quick look at how each team fared:
Team Southern Indiana 2010 Red
TSI 2010 Red got past PAL Elite 69-62 in the tournament’s opening round before falling to Chicago Elite 58-76 in a gold-bracket quarterfinal.
Jeffersonville’s Drake Coleman totaled 14 points versus PAL Elite. Brownstown’s Taylor Wischmeier added 12 and Jeffersonville’s A.J. Adams chipped in 10.
Team Southern Indiana 2011
After finishing 2-1 yesterday in pool play, TSI 2011 lost 57-67 to Kessel Heat Black this morning in a silver-bracket quarterfinal.
Jeffersonville’s Jordan Ellis and Bedford North Lawrence’s Braden Knight each netted 14 points in the defeat. Darryl Baker, a future Red Devil who is the area’s most touted eighth-grader, added 11.
Team Southern Indiana 2012
TSI 2012 cruised past Kessel Heat Black 61-45 in a gold-bracket quarterfinal. Max Clemons (Scottsburg) and A.J. Schmidt (Providence) again led the way, finishing with 24 and 18 points, respectively.
But the 2012 group couldn’t overtake the Eric Gordon All-Stars, falling 43-49 in the semifinals. Schmidt scored 17 points and Clemons added 11.
