Wolfpack fall to San Diego despite 10 from Coleman

RENO, Nev. — Despite a season-best 10 points from former Jeffersonville star Tre Coleman, host Nevada dropped a 75-68 decision to San Diego on Friday at

Coleman went 3-for-8 from the floor and finished with six rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocked shots in the defeat.

The Nevada sophomore’s first 3-pointer of the season gave the Wolfpack their first lead at 6-4. He knocked down his second 3 of the game with 2:52 remaining to pull Nevada within 70-64. His jumper with 20 seconds left cut the deficit to 72-68, but the Toreros scored the final three points of the contest.

Junior forward Warren Washington paced with Wolfpack (0-2) with 18 point and 10 rebounds. Junior guard Grant Sherfield finished with 13 and junior center Will Baker 12 for Steve Alford’s squad. The Toreros were led by Jase Townsend’s 18 and senior Terrell Brown’s 16 in the win.

Nevada is back in action Tuesday when they go to Santa Clara to take on a Broncos team that is 2-0 and upset Stanford on Friday. Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. locally.
