• News and notes: Sophomore Kennedy Coleman scored 10 points in the first quarter as Charlestown ran out to a 26-9 lead on Saturday against North Harrison. The Pirates then outscored the Lady Cats 15-12 in the second quarter for a 41-21 halftime lead. Coleman finished with a game-high 17 points. … Emme Rooney scored 20 points to lead a balanced Silver Creek attack in the 30-point win over Seymour. Nine different Dragons scored in the win. Kynidi Mason-Striverson had 13 and Lacey Tingle scored 12 apiece in the win. … Creek led Seymour 64-36 through three quarters. … The Dragons had 11 3-pointers in the win. Rooney made four of them.
• Outlook: Charlestown had the Win of the Week when it beat North Harrison 57-32. It’s not just that the Pirates beat North Harrison. It’s how they did it. North Harrison was a team many considered to be third-best in the MSC after Silver Creek and Salem. The Cats led Jeffersonville most of the game in a one-point loss. This was a good team the Pirates faced … and it was no contest. But as good as the Pirates have looked, and they’ve been very good so far, still not sure they’re yet at a place where they can beat high-powered Silver Creek on the road.
• JohnHarrell.net prediction: Silver Creek 54, Charlestown 50.
• Greg’s pick: Silver Creek 68, Charlestown 51.
