COLORADO SPRINGS — Former Floyd Central star Jake Heidbreder scored 8 points to help Air Force to its sixth consecutive victory, 59-48 over Idaho on Saturday afternoon.
Heidbreder went 3 for 4 from the field and connected on two of his three 3-point attempts in the win. The freshman wing also had two steals and a rebound.
The Falcons, who lost their season opener before the current winning streak, trailed 24-21 at the half, but Heidbreder hit both of his 3-pointers in a minute and 14 seconds to take the Falcons from down 3 points to up 3. Air Force scored the first 9 points after halftime and never trailed again.
Idaho State (1-5) got 19 points from junior guard Robert Ford III. The Tigers opened the season with a win over Eastern Oregon and has dropped 5 in a row since.
Senior guard A.J. Walker — the team’s leading scorer at 18.7 points per game — had a co-game high 19 points. Walker was 8 for 10 from the floor and made all three of his 3-point shots. He also had 4 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal for the Falcons, who have a week off before hosting Army on Saturday at 4 p.m.
