LOUISVILLE — Twelve different Bellarmine players scored as the Knights improved to 3-6 on the season with a 92-43 victory over Division III Defiance (Ohio) on Sunday at Freedom Hall.
Five Knights were in double figures, including former Providence star Juston Betz, who went 5 for 5 from the field and grabbed 8 rebounds in the victory. Senior guard Dylan Penn (Evansville) finished with 15 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Freshman forward Curt Hopf (Montgomery) contributed 14 and senior guard CJ Fleming (Cincinnati) and junior forward Sam DeVault (Evansville) scored 11 apiece.
Junior guard Avonte Jones scored 7 points to lead the Yellow Jackets (3-4).
Bellarmine, which has won three of its last four games after an 0-5 start, led 40-27 at halftime. The Knights host Asbury (Ky.) on Thursday evening at Freedom Hall. The 4-6 after Saturday’s 78-71 win over Boyce (Ky.).
