BOSTON — Romeo Langford went scoreless in 25 minutes off the Boston bench and the Celtics couldn’t hold off visiting Philadelphia in a 108-103 loss Monday evening at TD Garden.
Langford, a former New Albany and Indiana University star, went 0 for 3 from the field and 0 for 2 from behind the 3-point arc. He did have a rebound and a blocked shot in the loss.
Joel Embiid had 41 points and Seth Curry finished with 26 — on just 14 field goal attempts — to help the 76ers improve to 16-15. The Celtics are now 15-16. Danny Green’s 3-pointer with 1:43 gave Philly a 99-98 lead. It was a lead the Sixers never relinquished. Boston turned the ball over on its next possession and Embiid scored 7 points in the final minute to seal the victory.
Jaylen Brown had a team-best 30 points for the Celtics, who had 18 turnovers and made just 7 of their 27 3-point attempts (25.9 percent) as they lost for the sixth time in their last eight games.
The Celtics outscored Philadelphia 46-22 in the paint, 10-9 in fast break points, 13-5 in second-chance points and 18-1 off the bench.
Langford and the Celtics host Cleveland (19-12) on Wednesday. That game can be seen locally on Bally Sports Ohio.
