When the Bearcats tied the game at 71 with 2:25 remaining, Anthony Wales and Ahmad Price each scored eight points each and Jathan Ritter hit two clutch free throws with 7 seconds left to help the Grenadiers secure their sixth win in a row, 81-78 at the Activities Center.
Price, a sophomore guard from Valley, led IUS with 22 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Wales, a junior guard from Valley, finished with 16 points, four rebounds and three assists, while junior guard Glenn Hill Jr. contributed 17 points, seven boards and two blocked shots for the Grenadiers, who are now 12-14 overall and 9-5 in the River States Conference.
Freshman guard Tay Smith (Bowling Green/Warren Central) had 26 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and two steals to pace the Bearcats (6-18, 4-11), who have lost five straight.
Next, IUS hosts St.-Mary-of-the-Woods next Saturday. The Pomeroys are 2-20 overall and winless in RSC play in 12 games. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
