CLASS A WEST WASHINGTON REGIONAL
• Schedule:
Semifinal — Tecumseh (16-8) vs. Trinity Lutheran (16-8), 10:30 a.m.
Semifinal — Lanesville (25-1) vs. Vincennes Rivet (20-6), approximately 12:30 p.m.
Championship (Friday) — Semifinal winners, 7:30 p.m.
• Favorites: Lanesville. Rivet has the history and Tecumseh has the bragging rights, but the Eagles are still the heavy favorites at West Washington.
• Serious contenders: Tecumseh and Rivet. If Lanesville should stumble, either the Braves or Patriots will likely be there to take the title.
• Outside contenders: Trinity Lutheran. The Cougars aren’t as good as they have been lately, but they definitely have a shot at beating Tecumseh and winning the regional.
CLASS 2A CRAWFORD COUNTY SECTIONAL
• Schedule:
Semifinal — Eastern (15-11) vs. Forest Park (22-3), 10 a.m.
Semifinal — North Knox (20-6) vs. South Ripley (18-8), approximately noon
Championship (Friday) — Semifinal winners, 7 p.m.
• Favorites: Forest Park. The Rangers have the best chance of winning the regional, but it won’t be easy getting past Eastern.
• Serious contenders: Eastern. If the Musketeers win Saturday morning, they become the regional favorites.
• Outside contenders: North Knox and South Ripley. Whoever wins Saturday’s second semifinal will put themselves in position to be surprise regional champions.
CLASS 3A CHARLESTOWN REGIONAL
• Location: North Harrison H.S. (1070 Hwy. 64 N.W., Ramsey)
• Schedule:
Semifinal — Vincennes (17-8) vs. Gibson Southern (18-7), 10:30 a.m.
Semifinal — Silver Creek (23-2) vs. Rushville (17-9), approximately 12:30 p.m.
Championship (Friday) — Semifinal winners, 7:30 p.m.
• Favorites: Silver Creek. It’s not close. The Dragons should win this.
• Serious contenders: Vincennes, Gibson Southern and Rushville. Seems like the Alices, Titans and Lions are all about even. If Silver Creek is upset, any of the other three could win it.
CLASS 4A JEFFERSONVILLE SECTIONAL
• Schedule:
Semifinal — Franklin (25-1) vs. East Central (22-4), 10 a.m.
Semifinal — Bedford North Lawrence (23-2) vs. Castle (19-4), approximately noon
Championship (Friday) — Semifinal winners, 8 p.m.
• Favorites: Franklin. It’s close between Franklin and BNL — ranked second and third in the state, respectively.
• Serious contenders: Bedford North Lawrence and East Central. The Stars and Trojans have been among the state’s best teams all season.
• Outside contenders: Castle. It’s not like the Knights will be pushovers, but it seems like they’re the clear No. 4 team in this regional.
