Sunday Fall League: Boys’ High School Division – Week 5

Week five scores and highlights from the HoosierHillsHoops.com Sunday Fall League Boys’ High School Division at Nolan Fieldhouse:

First round

Cavaliers 67, Magic 42: Brownstown’s Spencer Allman totaled 21 points Crawford County’s Parker Hudson added 16 as the Cavaliers got past the Magic. The Silver Creek duo of Zach Ricketts and Kole Kemmer scored 13 and 12 points, respectively, in the loss for the Magic.

Jazz 65, Clippers 46: Rock Creek’s De’Jan Garner poured in a game-high 30 points and South Ripley’s Jerad Walters chipped in 11 as the Jazz cruised by the Clippers. Crawford County’s Alex Baker paced the Clippers in defeat with 17 points, and Rock Creek’s Corey Gilbert finished with 15.

Spurs 59, Suns 56: Charlestown’s Kyle Hayes netted 22 points and Crawford County’s Jordan Newkirk chipped in 17, leading the Spurs to the quarterfinals. Clarksville’s D.J. Coleman finished with 12 points to lead the Suns, and Floyd Central’s Nick Bomerbach contributed 11.

Pacers 50, Bulls 44: Silver Creek’s Grant Meyer netted 14 points, Switzerland County’s Keegan Kincaid added 11 and Silver Creek’s Zach McCall 10 as the Pacers held off the Bulls. Henryville’s Joey Martin and Jennings County’s Brad Hunt paced the Bulls in defeat with 11 and nine, respectively.

Heat 72, Mavericks 64: Northeast Dubois’ Bryce Huebner racked up 23 points and Heritage Hills’ Devon Murder added 16 as the Heat upset the Mavericks in first-round play. New Albany teammates Jalen McCoy and Morgan Tolliver scored 16 a piece in defeat for the Mavericks.

Trail Blazers 78, Pistons 70: Greensburg’s Sean Sellers poured in 22 points and Columbus East’s Bryce Lienhoop contributed 13 points, and the Trail Blazers advanced over the Pistons. Silver Creek’s Caleb Sprigler and Eastern Pekin’s Phillip Boudreaux scored 17 and 12, respectively, to lead the Pistons in the loss.

Nuggets 59, Bucks 54: Borden’s Brandon Beam and Jeffersonville’s V.J. Billups each scored 17 a piece, and the Nuggets held off a late run by the Bucks. Jennings County’s Justin Webster and Nick Taulbee paced the Bucks in defeat with 18 and 10 points, respectively.

Celtics 59, Lakers 54: Seymour’s Matthew Lucas racked up 25 points and Brownstown’s Tanner Payton chipped in 12, leading the Celtics to a first-round victory. The Lakers were led by Austin’s Andrew Clark and New Albany’s Jermaine Parrish; each scored 17 in the loss.

Quarterfinals

Trail Blazers 57, Cavaliers 40: Sellers netted 25 points to lead the Trail Blazers into the semifinals. The Cavaliers got 17 points from Allman and 11 from Hudson.

Spurs 60, Jazz 56: Hayes went off for 26 points and Newkirk added 21 to propel the Spurs into the semifinal round. The Jazz were led by Rock Creek’s Keontez Malone (19), Providence’s Colin Daly (11), and De’Jan Garner (11).

Celtics 63, Nuggets 57: Lucas got 25 and Payton added 19 as to Celtics held off the Nuggets to move on. Clarksville’s Cory Brown paced the Nuggets in defeat with a league-high 37 points.

Pacers 69, Heat 58: Meyer and Kincaid netted 23 and 12 points, respectively, and the Pacers rolled into the semifinals. Browntown’s Brett McCory totaled 16 and Murder added 14 in the Heat loss.

Semifinals

Celtics 67, Pacers 63: Salem’s Taylor Banks poured in 23 points and Payton contributed 22 as the Celtics held off a late surge from the Pacers. Meyer and Kincaid netted 22 and 18, respectively, to lead the Pacers in their season-ending defeat.

Trail Blazer 81, Spurs 78: Greensburg’s Maci Holdsworth racked up 27 points and his Pirate teammate Sellers posted 26 as the Trail Blazers advanced in overtime. The Spurs were paced by Newkirk (26) and Hayes (19).

Championship

Celtics 76: Trail Blazers 69: Lucas poured in 22 points — all in the first half — and the Celtics held off the Trail Blazers in the waning minute of the game to win the boys’ high school division of the first annual HoosierHillsHoops.com Sunday Fall League. Payton added 19 for the Celtics.

Sellers paced the Trail Blazers in defeat with 19, and Holdsworth contributed 16.

Sunday Fall League: Girls’ High School Division – Week 5

Week five scores and highlights from the HoosierHillsHoops.com Sunday Fall League Girls’ High School Division at Nolan Fieldhouse:

Quarterfinals

Stars 38, Fever 29: South Central’s Shelby Miller netted 13 and Brownstown’s Kaley Wilkerson added 10 as the Stars got past the Fever. Southwestern’s Brandi Ponder and Madison’s Kelsey Block finished with 11 and 1 for the Fever.

Mercury 27, Dream 16: Silver Creek’s Carissa Brown totaled eight points to lead the Mercury to victory. The Dream were led in defeat by Jennings County’s Summer Sanders (six).

Semifinals

Sparks 48, Stars 40: Silver Creek’s Alexis McFarland finished with 16 points and Corydon’s Heather Uhl added 14 to lead the Sparks past the Stars. Shelby Miller led the Stars in defeat with 16, and Wilkerson chipped in 10.

Storm 45, Mercury 44: Scottsburg’s Kelsey Smith totaled 13 points and Clarksville’s Tionna Peters chipped in 10 as the Storm edged out the Mercury. Floyd Central’s Emily Ziegler led the Mercury in defeat with 12, and Brown finished with nine.

Championship

Sparks 47, Storm 44: McFarland got 17 and Uhl added 16 to lead the Sparks over the Storm to win the girls’ high school division title of the first annual HoosierHillsHoops.com Sunday Fall League.

The Storm were led in defeat by Silver Creek’s Mandi Martin (13).

Sunday Fall League: Boys’ Middle School Division – Week 5

Week five scores and highlights from the HoosierHillsHoops.com Sunday Fall League Boys’ Middle School Division at Nolan Fieldhouse:

Quarterfinals

Heat 43, Mavericks 36: South Central’s Zach Goodwin totaled 19 points as the Heat got past the Mavericks. Silver Creek’s Gabe Bauer and Borden’s Kyle Kruer paced the Mavericks in defeat with 17 and 11, respectively.

Magic 41, Pacers 38: Nick Tinsley and Caleb Costin scored 15 and 10 points, and the Magic edged the Pacers. Austin’s Markus Fleenor (10) and Corydon’s Mitchell Frederick (nine) led the Pacers in defeat.

Semifinals

Nuggets 68, Magic 32: Crawford County’s Ethan McMonigle scored 19 points and Scribner’s Christian Reed added 14, pacing the Nuggets over the Magic.  Tinsley and Parkview’s Damonte Moss paced the Magic in defeat with 12 and 11, respectively.

Heat 40, Lakers 31: Goodwin finished with 14 and Silver Creek’s Nick Kirchgessner contributed 11 as the Heat upended the Lakers. The Lakers were led by Madison’s Nick Macon (18).

Championship

Nuggets 47, Heat 42: Scribner’s Isaiah Hickman and Silver Creek’s Austin Groher each scored 11, and the Nuggets finished off the Heat to win the boys’ middle school division of the first annual HoosierHillsHoops.com Sunday Fall League.

Goodwin paced the Heat in defeat with 15; Nicholas Kratholm, of East Oldham (Ky.), contributed 13.

Sunday Fall League: Boys’ High School Division – Week 4

Week four scores and highlights from the HoosierHillsHoops.com Sunday Fall League Boys’ High School Division at Nolan Fieldhouse:

Pacers 64, Bucks 34: Silver Creek’s Grant Meyer got 17 points and Switzerland County’s Keegan Kincaid chipped in 15, and the Pacers thumped the Bucks. Jennings County’s Justin Webster netted 10 and Providence’s Noah Gallegos added eight for the Bucks.

Mavericks 80, Clippers 62: South Ripley’s Brandon Sizemore exploded for 22 points and New Albany’s Morgan Toliver added 15 as the Mavericks cruised. The Clippers were led by Rock Creek’s Shaquille Neptune and Crawford County’s Michael Carlisle contributed 19 and 16, respectively, in the loss.

Pistons 77, Cavaliers 40: Silver Creek’s Caleb Sprigler racked up 28 points and Eastern Pekin’s Todd Albertson totaled 23 as the Pistons whipped the Cavaliers. Scottsburg’s Kyle Petty and Brownstown’s T.J. Reynolds finished with nine and eight points in defeat for the Cavaliers.

Celtics 61, Jazz 49: Seymour’s Matthew Lucas netted 17 points and Salem’s Taylor Banks added 14 as the Celtics got past the Jazz. The Rock Creek duo of De’Jan Garner and Keontez Malone totaled 21 and 17 points, respectively, in the loss for the Jazz.

Heat 75, Trail Blazers 57: Northeast Dubois’ Bryce Huebner scored 28 points and Heritage Hills’ Devon Merder adeded 20 as the Heat blasted the Trail Blazers. Greensburg’s Sean Sellers poured in 28 points in the loss.

Bulls 60, Lakers 49: Henryville’s Joey Martin scored 22 points to lead the Bulls past the Lakers. New Albany’s Parker Henes and Madison’s Clark Vaughn finished with 11 and 9, respectively, in the loss for the Lakers.

Spurs 65, Magic 45: Crawford County’s Jordan Newkirk netted 14 points, Charlestown’s Kyle Hayes added 12 and Borden’s Garrett Vick 12 as the Spurs breezed past the Magic. The Magic  were led Jeffersonville’s Darryl Baker (17) and Silver Creek’s Zach Ricketts (13).

Clippers 74, Bucks 53: Neptune totaled 21 points and Carlisle 19 as the Clippers downed the Bucks. Webster led the Bucks in defeat with 17, and Scottsburg’s Chase Casteel chipped in 16.

Nuggets 54, Suns 45: Clarksville’s Cory Brown racked up 24 points and Jeffersonville’s V.J. Billups added 13, and the Nuggets held off the Suns. Floyd Central’s Nick Bomersbach and Borden’s Billy Kirchgessner scored nine a piece to led the Suns in defeat.

Mavericks 69, Bulls 63: New Albany’s Jalen McCoy poured in 25 points and Tollier added 18 as the Mavericks edged the Bulls. Henryville’s Andrew Jones and Milan’s Jacob White each scored 16 in the loss for the Bulls.

Pacers 64, Lakers 61: Kincaid and Meyer totaled 19 and 16 points, respectively, and Silver Creek’s Zach McCall added 13, leading the Pacers over the Lakers. New Albany’s Jermaine Parrish finished with 18 and New Washington’s Devin Herron chipped in 13 in the loss.

Trail Blazers 63, Pistons 59: Sellers got 14 and Christian Academy’s Chris Carruthers added 12, and the Trail Blazers inched past the Pistons. Albertson paced the Pistons in defeat with 18, and his Eastern Pekin teammate Phillip Boudreaux added 16.

Jazz 83, Heat 78: Malone exploded for 28 and De’Jan Garner added 26 to lead the Jazz to victory. The Heat were led by Brownstown’s Brett McCory (22) and Merder (21).

Celtics 64, Cavaliers 54: Brownstown’s Tanner Payton scored 16, Seymour’s Corbin Weller added 16 and Lucas 15 as the Celtics got past the Cavaliers. Crawford County’s Parker Hudson totaled 15 and Brownstown’s Spencer Allman contributed 13.

Suns 64, Magic 61: Floyd Central’s Connor Schellenberg netted 19 points and his Highlander teammates Bomersbach added 12 as the Suns squeezed past the Magic. Ricketts and Baker led the Magic with 22 and 19, respectively.

Spurs 59, Nuggets 46: Hayes and Newkirk scored 19 and 10, respectively, and the Spurs got past the Nuggets. Billups (20) and Brown (11) paced the Nuggets in defeat.

Sunday Fall League: Girls’ High School Division – Week 4

Week four scores and highlights from the HoosierHillsHoops.com Sunday Fall League Girls’ High School Division at Nolan Fieldhouse:

Mercury 36, Sparks 26: Silver Creek teammates Emily Clayton and Carissa Brown finished with 10 and nine points, respectively, to help the Mercury upend the Sparks. Taylor Frederick and Heather Uhl, both of Corydon, scored 11 and 10 points in the loss for the Sparks.

Storm 45, Fever 25: Medora’s Ashley Lambert netted 12 points and Scottsburg’s Kelsey Smith chipped in nine as the Storm crushed the Fever. Corydon’s Marie Rothrock and Southwestern’s Brandi Ponder scored six points a piece.

Stars 40, Dream 33: South Central’s Shelby Miller totaled 17 points as the Stars got past the Dream. Jennings County’s Summer Sanders paced the Dream in defeat with 13.

Sparks 46, Storm 29: Corydon’s Aly Chambers led a balanced attack, helping the Sparks blow past the Storm. Lamber paced the Storm in defeat with 10.

Dream 44, Mercury 40: Jennings County’s Ashley Vogel scored 12 points and Borden’s Abigail Ellis contributed nine, and the Dream edged the Mercury. Brown and Clayton paced the Mercury in defeat with 13 and eight points, respectively.

Fever 45, Stars 42: Rothrock finished with 13 and Madison’s Kelsey Block chipped in eight, leading the Fever over the Stars. Shelby Miller and Kelsey Miller, both of South Central, added 11 and 10 points, and Brownstown’s Ally Warren went for 10 in the loss.

Magic 35, Mavericks 23: Caleb Costin and Nick Tinsley, both from Silver Creek, totaled nine and eight points, respectively, as the Magic got past the Mavericks. Borden’s Kyle Kruer paced the Mavericks with 10.

Pacers 45, Heat 25: Austin’s Markus Fleenor and Corydon’s Jay Brent scored 10 points a piece, and the Pacers blew past the Heat. East Oldham (Ky.)’s Nicholas Kratholm netted 12 and South Central’s Zach Goodwin added eight in the loss for the Heat.

Lakers 36, Nuggets 31: Madison’s Nick Macon netted 14 and Crawford County’s Ranger Caffrey contributed eight as the Lakers beat the Nuggets. Madison’s Bryce Harmon (13) and Scribner’s Isaiah Hickman (seven) paced the Nuggets in the loss.

Pacers 54, Mavericks 32: Fleenor exploded for 23 points and Borden’s Drew McKinley chipped in nine as the Pacers walloped the Mavericks. Silver Creek’s Gabe Bauer led the Mavericks in defeat with 12.

Nuggets 34, Heat 28: Silver Creek’s Austin Groher and Crawford County’s Ethan McMonigle each totaled 10 points as the Nuggets edged the Heat. Goodwin led the Heat in defeat with 14.

Lakers 41, Magic 30: Macon scored 15 points and his Madison teammate Reid Dirksen contributed 12, leading the Lakers past the Magic. Tinsley paced the Magic with six.
