Week two scores and highlights from the Team Southern Indiana Boys’ Middle School Summer League at Nolan Fieldhouse:
Aces 68, Hoosiers 52: Austin teammates Markus Fleenor and Christian Barrett racked up 22 and 17 points as the Aces cruised to the victory. The Hoosiers were led in defeat by South Central’s Zack Goodwin and Borden’s Jacob Schafer, who finished with 24 and 21 points.
Boilermakers 73, Sycamores 33: Corydon’s Bronson Kessinger netted a new league-high 36 points, and the Boilermakers whipped the Sycamores. Highland Hills’ Jacob Summer paced the Sycamores with 18.
Irish 55, Bulldogs 45: Parkview’s Isaiah Blanton scored 18 points and North Harrison’s Chase Spencer added 15 as the Irish won. The Bulldogs were paced by Rock Creek’s Cameron Schmidt (30).
Aces 83, Bulldogs 54: Fleenor racked up 27 points and Barrett 18 as the Aces shellacked the Bulldogs. Schmidt led the way for the short-handed Bulldogs with 29 points.
Hoosiers 69, Sycamores 56: Goodwin netted 32 points and Schafer chipped in 22 to led the Hoosiers. The Sycamores were paced by Silver Creek’s Wade Costin (28).
Boilermakers 70, Irish 31: Kessinger finished with 23 and River Valley’s Chad Hudson added 11 to lead the Boilermakers to 2-0 on the day. Blanton again led the Irish, scoring 19 points in the loss.

Team Southern Indiana 2011 Red, 2012 Red and 2013 Red played this week in Morgantown, W.Va., at the Hoop Group’s West Virginia Jam Fest. Here are all TSI scores and highlights:
2011 Red
Friends 4 Life (Oh.) built an early lead and then held on to beat 2011 Red, 79-65. Corydon’s Brandon Dunaway scored 18 points and New Albany’s Chris Whitehead chipped in 11.
In their second pool contest, 2011 Red squeezed past the Old School Cavs (Pa.) in three overtimes. Whitehead paced TSI with 20 points, Dunaway added 14 and New Albany’s Adam Stotts 12.
2011 Red beat the Hidden Gems (Oh.) 57-48 in a consolation game, finishing the West Virginia trip with a 2-1 record. Jeffersonville’s V.J. Billups paced TSI with 20 points.
2012 Red
2012 Red won their first pool game by forfeit, then lost 63-44 to the Jersey Shore Warriors (N.J.).
In the first round round of silver-bracket elimination play, 2012 Red beat the Westchester Hawks (N.Y.) 68-54. Jeffersonville’s Jordan Ellis totaled 18 points — including five 3-pointers — and his Red Devil teammate Darryl Baker netted 15.
2012 Red edged Elite Basketball Club Purple 71-65 in the second round of silver-bracket play. Silver Creek’s Grant Meyer scored 25 points and Switzerland County’s Keegan Kincaid finished with 12.
In the silver-bracket quarterfinals, TSI’s run came to an end, losing 72-55 to Team New Jersey ABC. Baker paced the team with 22 points.
2013 Red
2013 Red nipped Force One (Md.) 64-63 in their first game of pool play. Louisville (Ky.) Ballard’s Lavon Holland led the team with 20 points.
The Columbus East duo of Kyle Taylor and Ridge Harris finished with 19 and 18 points, respectively, but 2012 Red fell 69-62 to PPY Elite (N.J.) to finish 1-1 in pool play.
2013 Red lost 70-60 in the opening round of silver-bracket play to Team Takeover Marshall (D.C.).

The six-team Team Southern Indiana Boys’ High School Summer League tipped off Sunday at Nolan Fieldhouse. Week one highlights included a 33-point performance by Trinity Lutheran’s Tyler Pottschmidt, and the Boilermakers and Hoosiers win both games to jump to an early lead in the standings at 2-0.
Boilermakers 80, Aces 47: The New Albany duo of Landon Howard and Parker Henes, both who didn’t play last year in high school, scored 20 and 17 points, and the Boilermakers cruised to the victory. Silver Creek’s Matt Hawn paced the Aces with 20.
Sycamores 51, Irish 41: North Harrison’s Lincoln Jones netted 15 points and Columbus East’s Bryce Lienhoop chipped in 14 as the Sycamores rolled. Trinity Lutheran’s Brandt Frische paced the Irish with 11.
Boilermakers 85, Bulldogs 82: Jeffersonville’s Cauldon Feldhous netted 21 points, Henes added 20 and Louisville (Ky.) Eastern’s Cedric Daniels 19 as the Boilermakers improved to 2-0 in league play. The Bulldogs were led in defeat by Bryce Huebner (Northeast Dubois) and Chris Braun (Charlestown) with 25 and 23.
Sycamores 57, Aces 49: Jones totaled 18 and Lienhoop 15 as the Sycamores closed day one of league play with a 2-0 record. The Aces were led by Christian Academy’s Aaron Hayes (17) and New Albany’s Clinton Poff (13).
Irish 87, Hoosiers 48: Pottschmidt racked up a league-high 33 points and Frische added 18. The Hoosiers were led by South Central’s Michael Willett (13).
Bulldogs 78, Hoosiers 75: Huebner totaled 25 points and Braun added 16 as the Bulldogs edged Hoosiers. New Albany’s Robby Erskine (15) and Willett (14).

Jody Demling, recruiting writer for The Courier-Journal in Louisville, wrote Sunday about the craziness of summer basketball and Team Southern Indiana 2011 Red’s successes thus far during evaluation period play.
Summer basketball can be crazy on the AAU circuit. Just ask the Team Southern Indiana 2011 Red squad.
A second-year program, TSI had its best week ever, but it didn’t come without a few twists and a lot of tired legs.
Led by two players from Louisville and the rest from Southern Indiana, Team Southern Indiana won the Hoosier Shootout 17s title Thursday in Indianapolis.
The win was big, but the way they did it and what happened later was “crazy,” according to New Albany senior Chris Whitehead, one of the team’s top players.

Team Southern Indiana 2011 Red lost their opening game of pool play, then rebounded to win six straight games en route to capturing the 17 and under gold-bracket title in front of a solid contingent of college coaches at the Hoosier Shootout in Indianapolis.
Jeffersonville’s V.J. Billups racked up 24 points and New Albany’s Chris Whitehead added 19 as TSI 2011 Red got past the B.A. Hoyas 77-67 in the championship game. New Albany’s Morgan Toliver and Corydon’s Brandon Dunaway added 15 and nine points, respectively.
The team’s toughest tests came in the quarter and semifinal rounds of elimination tournament play. TSI 2011 Red avenged a loss at the Indiana AAU State Tournament to Spiece Select 2011, 74-49, and defeated New Albany graduate Donnie Hale and Spiece All-Indiana in the semis, 79-69.
The 2011 Red team will play this weekend at the Kentucky HoopFest in Louisville before traveling to Morgantown, W.Va., for the Hoop Group’s West Virginia Jamfest and then Orlando, Fla., for the AAU Super Showcase.

Corydon graduate Garret Ross, a member of the Class of 2010, will continue his basketball career next season at Bellarmine, HoosierHillsHoops.com has learned.
Ross helped lead Corydon to a sectional title last season, averaging 15 points, six rebounds and five assists per game.
“He was a crucial member of our team’s success,” Panther coach Jamie Kolkmeier said in an official release from the university. “He has all the physical tools to have some success. He has good quickness and length, and he’s quick with the basketball.”
