Indiana Elite Team Indiana, which features Edgewood’s Levi Garner and Evansville Memorial’s Michael Nesbitt, netted a second-place finish in the 16 and under division of last week’s adidas Super 64 tournament in Las Vegas.
Elite — minus Bloomington South’s Darwin Davis who was playing across town in the Main Event with his high school squad — forfeited the championship contest due to travel arrangements.
Nesbitt turned in a big performance in the quarterfinal round versus 43 Hoops, scoring 18 points to help the team advance to the semifinals.

Southern Indiana results, scoring highlights and other tidbits from the first day of the Best of the Midwest:
- Spiece Indy Heat got past Indiana Elite Red 83-66 behind 13 points from both New Albany’s Donnie Hale and Jeffersonville’s Kegan Clark. In the loss, Seymour’s Matt Trimnell led Red with 13.
- Trimnell, a 6-foot-3 forward, said Belmont is his newest college suitor. He plans to visit both Belmont and Western Kentucky in August.
- Fieldhouse Elite Team Indiana, which features the Bloomington North duo of Zoul Ballman and Julian Boatner, fell 59-57 to Team Blaze Select. Ballman netted eight points.
- Team Southern Indiana 2010 Red nipped the Indy Magic 60-57. Corydon’s Garett Ross and New Albany’s Tate Rohlfing led TSI with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
- Team Southern Indiana 2012 shellacked the Spiece Gym Rats (Tapp) 72-27. Scottsburg’s Max Clemons led TSI with 17 points, Switzerland County’s Keegan Kincaid added 13 and West Washington’s Clayton Sullivan 10.
- Team Southern Indiana 2010 White held off Noblesville’s high school team 69-61. Switzerland County’s Brennan Bragg and Silver Creek’s Cody Jackson each totaled 16 points, and Jeffersonville’s Jordan Todd added 12.
- Team Southern Indiana 2011 lost 81-69 to JSA Storm (Ind.). Jeffersonville freshman Darryl Baker poured in 30 points and his Red Devil teammate, Jordan Ellis, chipped in 10.
- Spiece Indy Heat blasted Team Blaze Select 74-36 behind 10 points from Clark and eight from Hale.
- Indiana Elite Red rebounded in their second pool game with a 74-60 win over Fieldhouse Elite Team Indiana. Trimnell again led Red with 30 points, and Bloomington South’s Kyle Fletcher netted 12. Fieldhouse Elite got 19 points in the loss from Bloomington North’s Julian Boatner.
- TSI 2010 Red finished day one with a 2-0 record, beating MBA Select (Oh.) 72-67. Ross totaled 14 and Conder 11 for TSI.
- The Spiece Northwest Stars hammered TSI 2010 White in their second pool game 86-57. For TSI, Bragg scored 16 points and Paoli’s Logan Laswell contributed 13.
- TSI 2011 kept it close versus the Spiece Indy Stars, who won the 16 and under gold bracket of the Kentucky HoopFest last week. Baker again put on a show, racking up 27 points. The Ellis twins (Jonathan and Jordan), also of Jeffersonville, each added 14.

Southern Indiana results and highlights from the final day of the 2009 Kentucky HoopFest:
- Washington’s Cody Zeller totaled 26 points, but Indiana Elite One Orange fell 65-63 to Team Takeover (Canada) in 16 and under gold bracket play.
- Bloomington South’s Spencer Turner, who plays with Indiana Elite One Orange, received his first scholarship offer this weekend — IPFW.
- Team Takeover (Canada) edged Indiana Elite Team Indiana 74-64 to win the 16 and under gold bracket championship. Team Indiana features Bloomington South’s Darwin Davis (16 points), Edgewood’s Levi Garner and Evansville Memorial’s Michael Nesbitt.
- The Nebraska Bison Select routed Team Southern Indiana 2012 78-57 in a 15 and under bronze semifinal. In the loss, Scottsburg’s Max Clemons netted 20 points and Switzerland County’s Keegan Kincaid chipped in 15.
- The Louisville-based Derek Smith All-Stars 16 and under were eliminated in the silver bracket championship by the Michigan Mustangs, 66-63. Jeffersonville’s Evan Maschmeyer contributed 10 in the loss.
- Team Southern Indiana’s four high school teams (2010 Red, 2010 White, 2011 and 2012) will travel to Indianapolis tomorrow for the Best of the Midwest tournament.

Lanesville finished just 1-8 in pool play action but caught fire in the single-elimination tournament to win the July 10-12 session of the Super Hoops Team Camp at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind.
Senior guard Bryant Conder, who missed the pool games playing with Team Southern Indiana 2010 Red at the Kentucky HoopFest, rejoined Lanesville Sunday in the tournament round.
The Eagles scored tournament wins over Greencastle, Paoli, North Daviess (semifinal) and Columbia City (final).

Here’s a handful of items from Saturday’s action at the Kentucky HoopFest in Louisville:
- Team CBIZ (Oh.) eliminated Team Southern Indiana 2010 White from the 17 and under silver bracket. In the loss, Louisville (Ky.) Ballard’s Logan Collier paced TSI with eight points.
- Team Southern Indiana 2010 Red crushed E.C.I North Dakota East 67-44 in a 17 and under copper bracket first-round game. Jeffersonville’s A.J. Adams scored 17 points, Brownstown’s Taylor Wischmeier added 16 and New Albany’s Tate Rohlfing 10.
- E.C.I. South Dakota edged Evansville Hortnets 66-57 in 17 and under tournament play. Evansville Harrison’s Joseph Lee and Evansville Bosse’s Trevor Smith finished with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
- Mike Fox‘s Indiana Elite 17 and under squad was knocked out of the gold bracket 53-50 by Shining Star Sports Black (Oh.). Bloomington South big man Erik Fromm toaled 16 points.
- Bloomington North’s Julian Boatner had a huge day. In 17 and under tournament play, Boatner racked up 32 points to lead his Fieldhouse Elite Team Indiana group over MBA Elite (Ind.) 75-66 and 25 in his team’s 64-50 win over Terry Porter Elite (Wisc.).
- The Gulf Coast Rams (Fla.) ended TSI 2010 Red’s 17 and under copper-bracket run in the second round, 57-48. Adams led TSI with 11 points.
- Spiece Indy Heat, featuring New Albany’s Donnie Hale and Jeffersonville’s Kegan Clark, was eliminated from 17 and under gold bracket play 58-53 by Team Takeover (Canada). Hale totaled 14 points in the loss.
- Team Southern Indiana 2012 got past the Tennessee Rhinos 66-59 in 15 and under bronze bracket play. Scottsburg’s Max Clemons scored 14 points and Switzerland County’s Keegan Kincaid added 13. Madison’s Sean Hoevener and Silver Creek’s Grant Meyer each chipped in 10.
- Shining Star Sports (McFarland), the team New Albany’s Dylan McDaniel plays with, was eliminated in 17 and under gold bracket play by the Michigan Mustangs.

After a rough stretch at the Hoosier Shootout, Team Southern Indiana 2011 rebounded this morning at the Kentucky HoopFest with a 70-66 win over the Raleigh (N.C.) United Celtics.
Jeffersonville freshman Darryl Baker poured in a game-high 25 points for TSI.
Jonathan Ellis and Jordan Ellis, both also of Jeffersonville, added 21 and 20 points, respectively.
