Local colleges tracking Brennan Bragg

Brennan BraggA handful of local colleges have entered the picture for Switzerland County senior Brennan Bragg.

Bragg, a 6-foot-4 center, is hearing from Bethel, Hanover and Indianapolis — all Indiana schools.

Lake Forest in Chicago also has contacted Bragg, who currently is traveling on the July AAU circuit with Team Southern Indiana 2010 White.

adidas It Takes 5ive: IE One Orange takes second

Indiana Elite One Orange — featuring five Southern Indiana preps — claimed second place yesterday at the adidas It Takes 5ive Classic in Cincinnati.

Elite fell 78-76 to 43 Hoops, a Minnesota-based team, in the championship game.

Bloomington South’s Spencer Turner paced Elite with 21 points — all three-pointers — in the loss. Princeton’s Rontray Chavis added 14 and Bloomington South’s Matt Carlino 13.

Other area players on the team’s roster include Jalen Packer (Princeton), Alex Pritchett (Bedford North Lawrence) and Cody Zeller (Washington).

Indiana Elite One Orange next will participate in the Kentucky HoopFest, which begins later today.

New college interest for Bryant Conder

Bryant ConderLanesville senior Bryant Conder is hoping to use the July evaluation period to secure more college suitors.

And after competing with Team Southern Indiana 2010 Red this week at the Hoosier Shootout, new small college interest already is building for the 6-foot-3 forward.

He is currently fielding interest from Anderson (Ind.), Indiana Tech, Indiana Wesleyan, Milwaukee School of Engineering (Wisc.), St. Norbert (Wisc.), Taylor (Ind.) and Tusculum (Tenn.).

Conder will be in action beginning tomorrow at the Kentucky HoopFest in Louisville.

Hoosier Shootout: TSI 2012 nets 3-1 record in Indy

Hoosier ShootoutTeam Southern Indiana 2012 finished the Hoosier Shootout with a 3-1 record, losing earlier today in single-elimination tournament play to Bloomington Blaze Select 39-34.

Silver Creek’s Grant Meyer scored 11 points in the loss.

TSI 2012 pool play results

  • Scottsburg’s Max Clemons scored 16 points and Switzerland County’s Keegan Kincaid added 10 as TSI edged Orange Crush (Ill.) 47-46 in double overtimet.
  • Kincaid poured in a game-high 21 points as TSI held off Shining Star Sports (Oh.) 54-47.
  • In their opening pool game, TSI slipped past Amp’d Athletics (Mich.) 61-60. Clemons and Kincaid led TSI with 22 and 21 points, respectively.

Hoosier Shootout: TSI 2010 teams off to solid start

Hoosier ShootoutThe July evaluation period has arrived, and many Southern Indiana teams and players currently are participating in two major events — the Hoosier Shootout in Indianapolis and the adidas It Takes 5ive Classic in Cincinnati.

Team Southern Indiana’s two 17 and under squads are off to commendable starts at the Hoosier Shootout.

Brownstown’s Taylor Wischmeier scored 17 points, Corydon’s Garett Ross added 16 and Henryville’s Steven Mayfield 14 as TSI 2010 Red crushed Minnesota Select 1 68-44 in their first pool game.

But 2010 Red lost their second contest, falling 69-60 to Aim High. Wischmeier again led the way with 17 points, Lanesville’s Bryant Conder added 16 and Jeffersonville’s Drake Coleman 12.

TSI 2010 White finished day one of the Hoosier Shootout with a 2-0 record, scoring a 60-56 win over Wisconsin Force and a 71-57 victory against Dayton (Oh.) Metro.

In their first game, Paoli’s Logan Laswell totaled 17 points, West Washington’s Josh Green netted 11 and Silver Creek’s Cody Jackon 10.

Versus Dayton, Laswell racked up 20 points and Jackson added 13.

Pool play wraps up this morning with single-elimination tournament play beginning this afternoon.

College interest picking up for Taylor Wischmeier

Taylor WischmeierBrownstown senior Taylor Wischmeier entered the scene as one of Southern Indiana’s top Class of 2010 prospects after helping his high school team advance last season to the state finals.

And after a successful spring AAU circuit, the 6-foot-7 forward is beginning to hear from a handful of college suitors.

Most recently, Wischmeier attended Eastern Kentucky University’s Prospect Camp, a one-day, invitation-only event for potential recruits.

Austin Peay, Evansville, IPFW and Northeastern — all NCAA Division I schools — and a long list of smaller colleges also have been in touch.

Wischmeier will run with Team Southern Indiana 2010 Red during the July evaluation period at the Hoosier Shootout, Kentucky HoopFest, Best of the Midwest and USSSA National Tournament.
